A life as a physician is all Dr. Lamar Peacock ever envisioned for himself. “My father inspired me to go into medicine. He is a now retired, having practiced general internal medicine and allergy in Atlanta for over 40 years. He impressed upon me the joy and satisfaction of being a physician. My relationship with patients is the most rewarding aspect of my profession.”Dr. Peacock received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and his medical degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Subsequently, he received his residency training in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia where he was appointed Chief Medical Resident from 1992-1993. He was a member of the faculty in General Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia for over 10 years before entering private practice. In 2004 and again in 2006 he was listed in Augusta magazine as one of Augusta’s “Top Docs”. His wife Amanda is a pharmacist and they are proud parents of Claire, born in 2003, and Bleakley born in 2006. Dr. Peacock enjoys gardening, golf, reading, and fishing, but his new hobby of changing diapers has, at least temporarily, become the most time consuming. As a physician, he has been drawn toward the prevention and treatment of long-term diseases. “My most rewarding experience has been caring for patients with multiple chronic diseases and helping them to improve the quality of their lives and to do more of the things they enjoy.” He enjoys the commitment to lifelong learning that this requires. |
