About Dr James L Millen, MD

Dr. James L Millen began his professional life as a musician, graduating with highest honors in piano performance from Indiana University and completing a master’s degree in conducting in New York City while gaining recognition as the principal conductor and music director of the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra.  In 1980, Dr. Millen shifted gears, pursuing a career in medicine, completing his MD at the Medical College of Georgia. His internship and residency in Internal Medicine/Endocrinology at the Indiana University Medical Center.  Dr. Millen has been a dedicated practitioner in Augusta since completing his post-graduate training in 1988, specializing in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Alongside his private practice, he has served as Clinical Professor of Medicine at MCG and has presented lectures on Diabetes and Lipid disorders throughout Augusta and the state.  In addition to his medical career, he has continued to be active as a musician, performing with the Augusta Symphony and in chamber and solo concerts.​
